Bl. 5

HW:

“Scientist working on transplant techniques grew a human ear on the back of a mouse. The ear is molded using human cartilage cells, and nourished by the mouse’s blood as it grows”. Find a reference and write a passage using your reference.

In my opinion, increase knowledge for helping people is the best thing that we should agree. As the result, BBC (2002) said “around 100 people waiting for a liver transplant” that means more people need some help from a mad scientist. For this case - working on transplant techniques grew a human ear on the back of a mouse are have many advantages such as help people who lost their ear, nose and so on. One reason that I supported this Idea because in this work are do not killed any mouse but they just putting a mold resembling the shape of a human ear on to its back and if they take the ear off a mouse still alive. I think this way is not cruel any animal but just help animal make a big deep (merit) for human being. Maybe in the future, can we have a new fashion ear like as “ape ear” for people to choose it?!! Some people don’t like their original ear…maybe they can be change it (lol this is just my stupid think – don’t laughs lol). However, I’m not a mad scientist, so I don’t know about what was the researcher done in this job, so, can we concern that human will take some DNA from the animal?. For this point Dr. Kruszelinicki (2006) reported that human DNA had taken over the mouse DNA, and commanded it to grow a human ear “But it never happened” because the mouse in the famous photo had never been genetically engineered.!

Actually, as the result, scientists had believed it was not possible to grow anything more complex than simple tissues…because of problems growing the blood vessel networks. To do this, they use a "frame" made of a biodegradable plastic. (BBC, 2002).

Benefits...

The advantages of Meditation

My grandma is an Idol of my life. I remembered, when I was young my grandma taught me how to meditate and chant. That time I did not know what is a benefit of meditation for me. So, she explained to me that the benefits of meditation can be given me in the order of creasing levels as follows.

Firstly, meditation offers you calmness of the mind. Your mind do not continue to wander off aimlessly. As the result, if you practices it you able to develop the concentration needed to complete any task.

Secondly, your mind is trained to become still. A still mind is pure, clear and bright. When the mind is in this state, you can experience happiness and hopefulness. Therefore, you was filled with good wishes for all and you feel encouraged to continue accumulating good deeds.

Thirdly, your mind is kept still at the center of your body for a prolonged period of time. Your mind will become very bright. The clarity and briskness of the mind will help you relax and can see the true about your study or your life.

Finally, the purpose of meditation is be can help you released your stress, depressing, suffering in your life.

After she explained it to me she took me to go meditation room and was started to chant and do meditation with her. In my opinion, I think my grandma is easy to get on with. I always visited and talked to her. when I do meditation and chanting I always miss her and remember how she taught me to do when I was young.

Love Grandma :)

This That....

1. Laptop vs Desktop

People have been using a desktop computer at home, work, and school for years. Now they are great new machines to have a portable computer called the laptop. However, both of computers are has advantages and disadvantages.

Firstly, the main benefit of a laptop is the portability. This can be a huge benefit, allowing you to take your computer go to anywhere. For example, If you constantly have to go on trips, a laptop will be very useful because your own laptop will have all your information such as your home works, pictures, music, presentations, e-mail. However, the prize of laptop is very high than desktop. Definitely, a desktop computer tends to be cheaper than a laptop computer of similar specification. For example, if you buy a standard desktop PC with fairly moderate features such as 1GB ready access memory (RAM) and 160GB hard drive will cost you less than $300, but a laptop which has features that can replace your desktop will cost you at least $700.

Secondly, Laptops are compact. The single laptop contains, your monitor, CPU, speakers, keyboard, mouse and everything else a normal computer contains. If you do not have place at home or have little space on your office desk, then it would be good to go in for laptop. In contrast, desktop is easy to upgrade than the laptop. Upgrading the memory, hard drive or most other components of your desktop PC require minimal understanding of the way in which the computer works. Also, when you open up your desktop's tower, you will see that there is plenty of room to move around to remove and/or replace parts. This case I used to do to my desktop many times.

Thirdly, a laptop computer is more power-efficient than a desktop. This is beneficial for businesses and homes where there is a computer running constantly. You could even save money on your electricity bill if you choose a laptop computer over a desktop PC. What is more, laptop computer can be distracting to work at a computer with a droning fan or one that sounds like it’s taking off every time you open a file. A laptop computer is often quieter than a desktop PC, due to better components and less heat production. This means cooling fans can be run at a slower speed and less often, giving you a quieter working environment. Conversely, desktop will not require accessories such as portable charging cords or batteries. Also, because desktops are easier to upgrade than laptop, accessories such as external hard drives and external disc drives are generally not needed. In addition, desktop computer are more powerful, reliable, easier to fix and doesn't get stolen very much if compared to a laptop computer.

To sum up, the laptop is the mobility, and powerful to used everywhere and every time but the prize is more expensive than the desktop but the desktop is cheaper, easier to upgrade or replace components, and less appealing to a thief than the laptop. In my opinion, I think a laptop has more advantages over a desktop. If you need to buy a new computer I suggest the Mac laptop is the best choice for you.

2. Buy a new or used computer which one is better?

Today, computers have become such an important part of outlives that you can find a computer in almost every home across the country. Unfortunately, computers are not the cheapest items, especially for people who are going through tough economic times. However, there are ways people can acquire a computer that they can afford.

First of all, buy new computer you will get warranty service. Most of new computer give you at least a one year warranty, if your laptop get the problem you can turn it to the company and then someone will fix it for you. In fact, this choice is get benefit more than buy a second hand computer. Average warranties that come with a used computer are normally less than a year. Depending on where you buy the computer, sometimes you will be offered the option of buying an extended warranty. Therefore, this issue is if you buy second hand, you are not saving much money because while it may be cheaper it also has a shorter working life. There are also higher support costs associated with second hand computers, both from the fact that they are older and probably going to break down more, and from having to replace them more often. For example, two months ago, I bought a used computer for my temple but it was broke many times in the period, so a second hand computer is not good enough for your afford.

Secondly, buy new computer you can gauge the quality of the system by the brand name. If you buy a high-end system from a good company you will usually not have to worry about getting a piece of junk because they will undergo rigorous testing for performance and making sure all components are in excellent working order before they are sold. Oppositely, If the computer proprietary then they will be expensive to repair, and oftentimes may not be able to repaired economically at all. When you comes to buying second hand computer, there is also less choice in local and proprietary in general, the local assembled computer is often a lot harder to find because of lower market penetration. But when you buy new, the choice is obviously greater.

Thirdly, a new computer is highest speed than old computer. As a result, you are assured of a high quality computer. So, it can help you get benefits for use the great software such as Animation, Sony Vegas or Photo shop are easier than the lowest computer. On the other hand, if you buy a used computer you will be getting a greatly reduced cost of as much as 50% or more less than the normal prize. For instance, when you buy a brand name brand new lap top being sold for $1500.00, but the second hand just sales about $700.00. What is more, new computers are always entering the market, if you were to buy a new computer every time an upgrade came out, you would likely go broke. Therefore, buying a used computer is an affordable solution to the increasing costs of brand new computers.

In conclusion, buy new or used computer could be get many advantages and disadvantages depend on the way you like and can be afford it. For me, I support to buy a new computer rather than buy a used computer.

Article: The Miracle is this : Okavango Delta. (pages. 46-67)

1. Meaning Okavango Delta
Okavango Delta is the flood was snakes down to the Okavango River and spreads across the delta.

- What?
Most of the Okavango River lies in Angola and Namibia Countries. Delta is a golden egg and it has border joined with Botswana country- Botswana has strong economic as well as political they wanted keep delta pristine.

- Where is location?
At part of Southern Africa, location is very flat, and the floodwater take 3 months to reach the delta and four more to traverse its 150 mile length. The flood has increased the Okavango’s wetland area by 2 or 3 times.

- How?
The flood of Okavango moves on multiple fronts like the columns of an army and we called is water of life. This miracle of flood is happens in slow motion.

2. From space : Appearance of Okavango Delta on the Earth
Okavango Delta is looks like the footprint of a bird – (see pictures). Water flows into the system through the leg, called the Panhandle, a trip of land 60 miles long and 9 miles wide along which the Okavango River meanders in lazy loops.
- The flood peaks in April – raising the level of the Okavango River by six feet.
- In May the level has started to drop.
- October is the time of sadness –called October suicide month, the water sucked up in to the atmosphere. The floodplains dry out, and water levels in the channels and lagoons drop to their lowest levels. However, when the flood start rise up in April, the miracle would begin again.
- Deadly ---The waters of the delta are full of crocodiles – Poem of The Bayie people teach their children about this river and crocodiles that “I am the river, My surface gives you life. Below is death.” – means in water, crocodiles are very dangerous.

3. People
People have been living with the dangers and the bounty of delta for at least 100,000 years. (see the map and explanation)
- The local people make good use of the molapo - the floodplain:
o During the flood they fish, and in the dry season the graze cattle.
o All year round they haves fruits, cut thatching grass and reeds, and hunt game on these productive lands.
o Transport in delta by canoe.
o Local animals: birds call jacanas or lily trotters, Hippo..etc. (look at pictures).

4. What is happen now?(The water takes through the Delta)
- One things that David Doubilet said it has changed is “the part of water takes through the delta.”
- At the past:
o In the 1849, much of water flow was down the western channel system and into Lake Ngami – a fine-looking sheet of the water flow. (David Livingstone - first journey, p.59)
o In the 1880s, the water flow, responding to range of subtle landscape cues, began to favor the eastern channels.
o Now the Lake Ngami is dried up.

5. Special animals
Termites, hippos, and papyrus – these three biological influences are part of a system as intricate and responsive as any on Earth.
